Public School Teacher Jake Johnson Raises Over $2 Million Without Corporate PACs

Jake's grassroots campaign in MN-01 has received over 32,000 donations — over 93% of which have been $100 or less — without taking a dime from corporate PACs.

Today, Jake Johnson announced that he has raised over $2 million since launching his campaign, without taking any money from corporations. The milestone comes as Jake's grassroots campaign has recruited over 750 volunteers, collected over 5,000 signatures, and received over 32,000 individual donations — most of which come from Minnesotans.

"When we launched this campaign, people doubted whether a working-class guy could take on a multimillionaire bankrolled by big corporations," said Jake Johnson. "Turns out there are a lot more working people in southern Minnesota than there are corporate PACs in Washington.”

Jake’s grassroots campaign is taking on Brad Finstad, who has received nearly $500,000 from corporate PACs — including Koch Industries, Bayer, and Boeing. Meanwhile, Jake hosts car washes with his former students to raise money the clean way.

Yesterday was the end of the FEC reporting period ahead of the primary elections in Minnesota. Full numbers will be included in the campaign's FEC pre-primary filing due at the end of the month, ahead of Minnesota's August 11 primary. In the last two FEC filings made by both campaigns, Jake outfundraised Finstad by more than $100,000 and $130,000 respectively.
