Public School Teacher Outraises Congressman Brad Finstad
Jake Johnson raised more than any other congressional challenger in Minnesota this past quarter – all without taking a single dollar from corporate PACs.
ROCHESTER, Minn. – A local math teacher just outraised a sitting Congressman who has spent over a decade in government.
First-time candidate Jake Johnson raised over $264,000 from grassroots support in the second quarter of 2025, while Rep. Brad Finstad scraped together $235,000 thanks to the big corporations that are exploiting southern Minnesota. This is the most that anyone has ever outpaced Finstad’s fundraising totals in one quarter with external contributions. It is also the most any Minnesota challenger raised in the last quarter while taking on an incumbent representative.
“Brad Finstad doesn’t work for us – he works for them,” said Jake Johnson. “When corporations want a favor from Congress, they call Brad Finstad. When working families need help, they get a copy-and-pasted letter.”
Finstad’s filings show he relies on big corporations like Cargill and Boeing, who are squeezing our farmers, removing vital safety protections, and driving up costs for families across southern Minnesota. It’s no surprise that Finstad is focused on helping them, not us. Meanwhile, Jake’s donors are electricians, nurses, teachers, and the working people who built this country and keep our communities running.
“Our donors are the ones who actually fix our power lines, care for our loved ones, and teach our kids to dream bigger. And they’re chipping in an average of less than $50 each, because they know that when they stand together, they can take back power for regular people across southern Minnesota,” said Jake Johnson.
