Finstad fails again on year-round E15, building on his inability to pass a farm bill
Congressman Brad Finstad has once again failed to deliver year-round E15 for southern Minnesota farmers and ethanol producers. Finstad’s vote for yesterday’s FY2026 appropriations package, which did not include year-round E15, comes after a similar failure just over a year ago when DOGE Caucus member Brad Finstad joined Elon Musk’s push to kill the provision.
“Minnesotans don’t need another excuse or press release,” said Jake Johnson, candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s first district, responding to Finstad’s press release. “Congressman Finstad has failed to deliver year-round E15, and he still has not gotten a farm bill done. The people of southern Minnesota deserve a representative who can actually solve problems and get results in a bipartisan fashion.”
Year-round E15 would lower gas prices, strengthen markets for Minnesota corn growers, reduce dependence on foreign oil, and support good-paying jobs across the district. Instead, southern Minnesota families are left with uncertainty while Washington insiders protect powerful donors, including figures like Elon Musk and industries like Big Oil, who have actively opposed biofuel policies and donate to Finstad’s campaigns.
