Brad Finstad throws a hissy fit about town halls. Jake Johnson hosts them.
ROCHESTER, MN — Yesterday, after hosting a closed-door meeting with pre-selected attendees, Brad Finstad said “We could have called it a town hall. We could have called it whatever we wanted to call it.”
"Everyone knows that a closed-door meeting with handpicked attendees isn't a town hall,” said Jake Johnson. “If Brad Finstad wants to see what a real town hall looks like, he's welcome to attend any of the 21 town halls I'm hosting across southern Minnesota. The schedule is public, everyone is welcome, and nobody has to submit their questions in advance."
The last two congressmen from southern Minnesota — one Republican and one Democrat — used to host town hall meetings. Meanwhile, Rep. Finstad refuses to hold a single town hall meeting, instead only hosting closed-door meetings and pre-selected conference calls, and accusing his constituents of throwing “a hissy fit” for wanting to ask him questions.
Jake is offering a different approach, announcing 21 in-person town hall meetings across southern Minnesota. Jake held his first town hall meeting last week in Faribault; which was announced in advance, open to the public, and had no prescreening of questions.
