PRESS RELEASE

Jake Johnson Raises Over $650K in Second Quarter of 2026

Public school teacher and first-time candidate Jake Johnson raises more in Q2 than Brad Finstad has ever raised in a previous quarter in his entire career as a politician.

Today, Jake Johnson announced that he raised over $650K in the second quarter of 2026. Since launching his campaign in Minnesota’s first congressional district, Jake has raised over $1.85 million, received over 30,000 individual donations, and has taken no money from corporations.

“I’m humbled by the grassroots momentum behind our campaign, with our message to lower costs, fight corruption, and invest in small towns clearly resonating across southern Minnesota,” said Jake Johnson. “This is the kind of campaign you can build when you actually meet with voters here at home, rather than selling out to the highest bidder in Washington.”

Jake’s fundraising has increased 38% from last quarter, with a massive increase in new grassroots donations making that possible. Over 93% of the contributions to Jake’s campaign are $100 or less, and most of the contributions to his campaign come from individuals in Minnesota.

These latest fundraising numbers add to Jake’s growing momentum in MN-01. Last month, Cook Political Report moved this district into play, explicitly citing Jake’s strong fundraising performance. A poll earlier this year found Jake within just 3 points of Representative Brad Finstad, and the DCCC added this district to its list of “districts in play” for the 2026 midterms.
