Today, Defend The Vote endorsed Jake Johnson in Minnesota’s first congressional district for his commitment to cracking down on corruption to make life more affordable.  

“Jake Johnson is ready to take on the corruption in Washington that’s driving up costs and squeezing families,” said Defend The Vote Executive Director Brian Lemek. “He’ll work to unrig the system so it serves everyone, not just corporate lobbyists and billionaire donors. We’re proud to endorse him and look forward to helping him win in November.” 

"We have to take on the corruption in Washington that stands in the way of making life more affordable in southern Minnesota,” said MN-01 congressional candidate Jake Johnson. “In our democracy, we value the freedom to vote and the ability to choose our own leaders. When big corporations flood our elections with cash, we end up with politicians who rig the system in favor of those corporations at the expense of working people.”

Defend The Vote and Defend The Vote Action Fund launched a $14 million cycle plan last year to support their respective missions, with DTV working to elect pro-democracy candidates and DTV Action Fund focused on pro-democracy issue advocacy. Last cycle, it helped elect 108 pro-democracy candidates, 75% of the candidates it endorsed.
