Jake Johnson Joins Protest Against Data Center in Pine Island

PINE ISLAND, MN — Earlier this week, Jake Johnson joined residents of Pine Island to protest Google’s “celebration for proposed data center” and the broader plans to build a data center without appropriate safeguards for the community. This comes after Jake released his plan calling for a moratorium on data centers until critical protections can be guaranteed.

No more exploitation and extraction from southern Minnesota,” said Jake Johnson. “I was proud to stand with the people of Pine Island to say that we don’t want this data center here until we know for sure that it will actually benefit our people and our communities.”

“I believe that this data center is not right for this community, and we need to get these facts out to everybody before we move forward,” said Teddy Kimble, recent Republican candidate for State Senate District 20. “And so I fully support the data moratorium. It’s what we need to do here.”
