PRESS RELEASE

United Steelworkers District 11 endorses Jake Johnson

Today, on Labor Day, Jake Johnson announced that he has been endorsed by the United Steelworkers (USW) District 11, which is headquartered in Minnesota and represents iron ore miners, manufacturing workers, and health care workers. USW is the largest industrial union in North America, representing approximately 850,000 members and retirees.

"I'm so honored to have the Steelworkers in our corner this Labor Day," said Jake Johnson. "I've been a union member for 20 years, and I've sat at the bargaining table fighting for the workers and communities that we serve every day. Southern Minnesota deserves a representative who will show up for working people and fight to bring down costs, not a multimillionaire who answers to his big corporate donors."

As a leader in his union, Jake has served on three bargaining teams and helped win better pay and working conditions for over 1,000 teachers, nurses, and counselors in Rochester Public Schools. The Steelworkers join AFGE, AFSCME, AFT, BLET, Education Minnesota, IBEW Local 343, LIUNA MN & ND, MAPE, the Minnesota AFL-CIO, NEA, and SEIU Minnesota in endorsing Jake, adding to the growing labor support for his campaign to bring down costs, take on corruption, and invest in our small towns.
