Jake Johnson Holds Town Hall in Olmsted County

ROCHESTER, MN — Last night, Jake Johnson held a widely-advertised town hall meeting in Olmsted County that did not require any pre-registration or pre-screening of questions. Over 200 people showed up, with 14 questions asked and answered.

Post-Bulletin: Supportive crowd sees Johnson in Rochester town hall event

• Saturday's event was Johnson's 13th, and he appeared on stage alongside a small scoreboard reading "Johnson 13, Finstad 0," a reference to Finstad's not having held an open public forum over the past few years.

• Johnson presented himself as being willing to work collaboratively within his own party and across the aisle, noting that most people "actually share a lot of values in common" and he expressed his faith that other elected representatives hunger to be problem-solvers as he does.

• To a question about artificial intelligence, Johnson answered that he would support a federal moratorium on building data centers unless plans are publicly open, do not harm the environment or raise individual electric rates, create union construction jobs, and deliver ongoing financial returns to the communities in which they are located.

• Rachinny King, also from Rochester, attended with her husband, Kyle, and two daughters. "It's the first time we really got political," she said. […] Rachinny said, and "it's important to us we have an educator who uses facts and data, and not" — here her husband chimed in — "feelings."
