AFSCME Endorses Jake Johnson
Today, Jake Johnson announced that the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees — the largest trade union of public employees in the United States — is endorsing Jake Johnson in Minnesota’s first congressional district. AFSCME represents over 1.3 million workers across the country, including healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers, corrections officers, and childcare providers.
“I’m running for Congress to fight for the hardworking people of southern Minnesota,” said Jake Johnson. “That means making life cheaper and easier for working families, and advocating for their rights to negotiate for better wages and working conditions. I’m honored to have the support of AFSCME as we fight for everyday Minnesotans, not billionaires and big corporations.”
Jake is running for Congress against Brad Finstad, who was a founding member of the DOGE Caucus, where he helped gut programs for working families and led attacks against public sector employees. Meanwhile, Jake has been the Governmental Relations Coordinator and a bargaining team member for his union, where his work helped improve wages and working conditions for 1,000+ teachers, nurses, and counselors.
