Jake Johnson Completes 21-County Town Hall Tour, Holding One in Every County in Southern Minnesota

WEST CONCORD, MN — This weekend, Jake Johnson held a town hall meeting in Dodge County — his 21st town hall meeting of the summer. With this weekend's meeting, Jake has fulfilled the pledge he made when he launched this campaign: to hold a public, in-person town hall in each of the 21 counties in Minnesota's first congressional district before the election.

Like each of the 20 town hall meetings before it, this town hall was open to all members of the public, was widely advertised beforehand, and had no prescreening of questions or attendees. Questions ranged from how the federal government can better support our public schools, to the harms from tariffs, to how we can increase access to childcare.

"When we launched this tour, I made a simple promise to the folks of southern Minnesota: 21 town halls, one in every county. We have kept that promise," said Jake Johnson. "At every stop, people brought their questions, their concerns, and their ideas, and without any prescreening or preregistration. Brad Finstad hasn't held one single meeting like this in his four years in Congress. I'll keep showing up and listening, and when I'm elected, I'll hold 21 town halls every term, so that I can truly solve problems for southern Minnesota."

As many voters know, Finstad instead opts for what he calls “tele town halls”, which are unannounced phone calls that only go to a set of preselected individuals chosen by Finstad’s office, where they can hear Finstad respond to questions with no proof that those questions are not presubmitted.
