Jake Johnson Outraises Brad Finstad — Again
According to the latest FEC filings, Jake Johnson raised $650,362 compared to Brad Finstad's $543,899 between April and June — outraising Finstad by over $106,000 in Q2. Jake also raised more than six times as much from small-dollar donors as Finstad.
“I am humbled that we’ve been able to build such a strong campaign without taking a dime from corporations,” said Jake Johnson. “Grassroots fundraising is hard work, and I’m proud that we’ve earned an A from the nonpartisan Political Integrity Index for doing it the right way.”
These fundraising numbers are particularly impressive given that Jake, a first-time working-class candidate, has done this without taking a single dollar from corporations, and with a majority of his donations coming from Minnesota. Meanwhile, Finstad has taken nearly $900,000 from PACs this cycle — including checks this quarter from the corporate PACs of Koch Industries, Bayer, UnitedHealth, Walmart, and Boeing. The difference is so stark that the nonpartisan Political Integrity Index gave Jake an A, while giving Finstad an F.
Finstad’s Q2 disbursements also include a filing fee, where he paid the Secretary of State to get on the ballot. Jake’s Q2 filing does not include such a fee, as Jake chose to get on the ballot in the fiscally responsible, grassroots way by collecting over 5,000 signatures.
