Brad Finstad sells out to big corporations again, votes to protect donors from liability
Finstad took $22,500 from Chinese-owned pesticide company, then failed to join 73 members of his own party in holding them accountable for harms.
Last week, Brad Finstad voted against a bipartisan amendment to remove a provision from the farm bill that would make it harder to sue pesticide companies when they break state law. Finstad has taken over $30,000 from the pesticide industry, including over $22,000 from a large Chinese-owned pesticide company.
“This vote wouldn’t have hurt farmers or limited the products they could use. It simply would have held big corporations accountable when they do harm,” said Jake Johnson in a video released today. “At a time when input costs are already too high, we need a congressman who’s actually going to stand up to the big corporations, instead of taking their money and just looking the other way.”
While 73 Republicans voted for the amendment, Finstad was not one of them. Finstad has taken over $30,000 from the pesticide industry, including $22,500 from the corporate PAC for Chinese-owned Syngenta. The vote for the amendment passed 280-142, with Finstad once again being in the minority of a large bipartisan vote, adding to his record as one of the most extreme members of Congress.
