PRESS RELEASE

Jake Johnson Announces “Collect the Receipts Tour” Across Southern Minnesota

Today, math teacher Jake Johnson announced his “Collect the Receipts Tour,” a series of events held across the district that will collect receipts from working people, highlighting the skyrocketing costs that working families in southern Minnesota are being forced to pay just to get by. Jake is committing to drive his minivan to Washington with all of these receipts if he is elected in November, to force Washington to actually do something about these costs.

“Unlike my opponent, I’m not rich. My wife and I are raising four boys on a teacher’s salary, and we feel rising costs just like everyone else,” said Jake Johnson. “I’m tired of watching Congressman Finstad and so many of his colleagues in both parties do nothing about these bills. That’s why I’m collecting receipts from across Southern Minnesota, and I’m going to drive them to Congress if I’m elected to try to get them to actually do something about it.”

These events will consist of local folks bringing in receipts of purchases they’ve had to make or bills they’ve had to pay – gas, groceries, health care, electricity, and more – then Jake will read them and speak about how expensive life has become for working people, and the ways we could fix it if Congress actually cared. After each event, Jake will collect all the receipts, so he can bring them to Washington after he wins in November because he’ll always remember who he’s working for.

Congressman Brad Finstad, after promising to lower costs, has spent his tenure voting in support of massive tariffs, the Iran War, massive increases to the national debt, and cuts to rural healthcare, all of which have further made life more expensive in southern Minnesota. His constituents have not had a chance to tell him how his votes are hurting them, because he’s never held a public town hall meeting. Jake has held one in each of the district’s 21 counties.

Finstad is causing problems. Jake is running to solve them.
