Brad Finstad held another phony telephone "town hall" tonight. Jake just finished 21 real ones.

Four years into his time in Congress, Brad Finstad still has not held a single public, in-person town hall for his constituents in southern Minnesota. Instead, Finstad hosts "telephone town halls", which are unannounced calls that go out to people picked by his office right when the event starts, with no way for the public to know whether questions are prescreened.

Tonight was more of the same. A selected few southern Minnesotans received a call from Congressman Finstad tonight with no advance notice. For those who picked up and got the rare chance to hear from their elected representative, many of the questions reportedly sounded like "softballs."

"Brad Finstad knows folks in southern Minnesota are upset about rising costs, and that's exactly why he won't face them in person," said Jake Johnson. "Calling a few pre-selected people is not a town hall, it’s actually a way to avoid one. Meanwhile, I just held 21 in-person town halls, one in every county in this district, where anyone could walk in and ask anything they wanted, no prescreening necessary. Because the people of southern Minnesota deserve nothing less than that.”

Jake also responded to Finstad on social media tonight, with a video highlighting the 21 town hall meetings that Jake has held this summer. Every one of those 21 town hall meetings was open to the public, advertised in advance, and took unscreened questions with no preregistration. Jake has pledged to hold 21 town hall meetings in every term he serves in Congress.
