New Poll Shows Jake Johnson Within the Margin of Error in MN-01
Jake Johnson is just 3 points behind Congressman Brad Finstad, and voters say Finstad does not deserve to be re-elected by a 13-point margin.
After years without an in-person town hall from Congressman Brad Finstad, local math teacher Jake Johnson is showing up all across southern Minnesota and is now within three points of flipping Minnesota’s First Congressional District.
A new poll conducted by Public Policy Polling shows that, in a head-to-head election this fall, Johnson would receive 41 percent of the vote compared to Finstad’s 44 percent. The poll also finds that just 35 percent of voters believe Finstad deserves re-election, while 48 percent say it’s time for someone new. The poll surveyed 708 registered voters in MN-01 between February 2-3, and had a margin of error of 3.7 percent.
“The people of southern Minnesota know that they aren’t being served well in Congress,” said Jake Johnson. “While our costs go up and our jobs go away, we have a congressman who won’t even hold a town hall to hear about our concerns. But somehow he always has time for the corporate CEOs and lobbyists who bankroll his campaigns. I’m running for Congress to change that and start rebuilding the American Dream for the next generation.”
