Jake Johnson Submits Over 5,000 Signatures, Officially Files to Run for Congress

Jake Johnson avoids paying a filing fee and continues to campaign on lowering costs.

ST. PAUL — Today, Jake Johnson officially submitted more than 5,000 petition signatures to the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office to qualify for the ballot in Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District — five times the number required under Minnesota law to get on the ballot without paying a filing fee.

The 5,022 signatures were collected through a large grassroots effort spanning all 21 counties in southern Minnesota, with volunteers and supporters meeting voters at community events, small businesses, and doorsteps across the district.

“While too many politicians take money from corporations and buy their way onto the ballot, we chose a different path,” said Jake Johnson. “These 5,000 signatures represent real conversations with people across southern Minnesota who are ready for leadership that actually listens, shows up, and works to lower costs for working families. I’m grateful to every single person who signed our petition and helped grow this campaign.”
