Campaign arm of Blue Dog Coalition endorses Jake Johnson in MN-01

This morning, the Blue Dog PAC endorsed Jake Johnson for Congress in Minnesota’s first congressional district. The Blue Dog PAC is the campaign arm of the Blue Dog Coalition, a caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives made up of pragmatic, fiscally responsible Democrats who work across party lines to get things done for the American people.

“People want representatives who understand what it takes to make a living, support a family, and serve a community,” said Rep. Adam Gray, Chair of Blue Dog PAC. “Jake spent twenty years in the classroom. His neighbors know him and trust him. He is the kind of candidate who can win a tough district and make Congress look a little more like the country it represents.”

“I’ve spent the last twenty years teaching math to kids in southern Minnesota, and the promise I make my students — that if you work hard, you can build a good life — is slipping away the longer Washington sits on its hands,” said Jake Johnson. “Our grassroots campaign started from nothing sixteen months ago, and tens of thousands of people across this district have now joined us because they want a representative who will bring down costs, take on corruption, and invest in our small towns. The Blue Dogs know just how important it is to have pragmatic problem-solvers who are willing to work with anyone to deliver for working families, and I’m grateful to have them standing with us on our campaign.”

Jake has made making the math add up in Washington a centerpiece of his campaign. His Taxpayer Protection Pledge supports balancing the budget, getting the fraud money back, banning members of Congress from trading stocks, and getting corporate money out of politics. And Jake has pledged to work with Republicans, Democrats, and Independents to deliver on these priorities, which is a centerpiece of what it means to be a Blue Dog.
