Jake Johnson Launches Third TV Ad, "Math Lesson"

Today, Jake Johnson launched "Math Lesson," the third TV ad of his campaign. In the ad, Jake stands at the whiteboard of a high school classroom and walks through some Washington math: Rep. Brad Finstad called for a balanced budget, then voted to increase the national debt by nearly $5 trillion and to spend $2 billion a day on the Iran War.

The ad begins airing today on broadcast and cable TV, on streaming, and on digital platforms across southern Minnesota, joining the campaign's first two ads, "Minivan" and "Farmland." It is funded by a grassroots campaign that hasn't taken any money from corporations, a stark contrast to Rep. Finstad, who has taken nearly half a million dollars from corporate PACs, including data center developers and Chinese state-owned corporations.

"I've spent 20 years teaching math in southern Minnesota, and this kind of Washington math would never fly in my classroom," said Jake Johnson. "Brad Finstad told us he'd balance the budget, then voted to pile nearly $5 trillion onto the debt and to spend $2 billion a day on a war in Iran. Families around are having to cut back. It's about time the government did too. That’s why I support a balanced budget amendment and not voting to raise the debt ceiling until the budget is balanced."

These commitments were unveiled in Jake’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which he released this summer.
