Jake Johnson Launches First TV Ad, "Minivan"

Today, Jake Johnson launched "Minivan," the first television ad of his campaign for Congress. In the ad, Jake introduces himself as one of 11 kids from a working class family in Stewartville, who is now a math teacher and father of four who is frustrated with high prices, fraud, and two political parties that don’t seem to care.

The ad begins airing today on broadcast and cable TV, on streaming, and on digital platforms across southern Minnesota. It is funded by a grassroots campaign that hasn’t taken any money from corporations, a stark contrast to his opponent Rep. Brad Finstad, who has taken tens of thousands of dollars from data center companies and a Chinese state-owned corporation.

"I'm not a politician. I'm a math teacher who drives my four boys around in a minivan, and who is fed up with life getting more expensive for families like mine, while fraudsters steal our money and politicians run up the national debt,” said Jake Johnson. “It’s time that someone made the math add up for the people of southern Minnesota, rather than selling out our small towns to the highest bidder in Silicon Valley and Communist China.”

Filmed in multiple locations across southern Minnesota, the ad follows Jake as he drives past the house he grew up in, hauls his boys around in the family minivan that could use some fixing up, and closes with a line that sums up his campaign: "Neither party seems to care. I will."
