Stauber Spoke Up. Klobuchar Spoke Up. Where Was Finstad?
Jake Johnson: "Brad Finstad voted the party line and couldn't pick up the phone line."
Today, Jake Johnson criticized Congressman Brad Finstad for remaining silent as Minnesota workers and farmers face uncertainty about their jobs and livelihoods.
On Tuesday, twenty House Republicans broke with party leadership to support legislation that would help newly organized workers secure a first union contract. Congressman Pete Stauber (R-MN) was one of those Republicans. Brad Finstad was not.
Also on Tuesday, the Star Tribune reported that USDA employees in Minnesota are being ordered to relocate to other states. The USDA has already lost more than one-fifth of its Minnesota workforce in the past two years. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) expressed serious concern and warned that staff losses could harm the fight against pathogens. Brad Finstad, who serves on the House Agriculture Committee, did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
"Pete Stauber stood up to his own party to support workers and pass pro-labor legislation. Amy Klobuchar spoke up for Minnesota farmers against major cuts to the USDA. Meanwhile, Brad Finstad voted the party line and couldn't pick up the phone line," said Jake Johnson. "Whether you're a worker trying to negotiate a fair contract or a USDA employee being told to leave Minnesota or be fired, you deserve elected officials who will fight for our workers and farmers."
