Education Minnesota Endorses Jake Johnson
Today, Minnesota’s largest labor union, Education Minnesota, endorsed Jake Johnson in its first round of 2026 federal endorsements. Johnson, a 20-year member of Education Minnesota, is also supported by the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association.
"Jake Johnson doesn't just talk about the challenges educators face — he lives them every day in his Rochester classroom,” said Monica Byron, president of Education Minnesota. “As a math teacher and proud Education Minnesota member, Jake knows firsthand what's at stake for students and school workers. We're proud to endorse an educator for Congress."
“For me, standing up for students, teachers, and working families isn’t theoretical. It’s what I’ve done every day for 20 years,” said Jake Johnson, math teacher running for Congress in MN-01. “I know what it means when teachers and parents can’t afford basic supplies, and when students come in hungry on Mondays because their families don’t have enough to eat on the weekend. It’s time that we elect a representative to Congress who will stop defunding public education and start investing in our local communities.”
In November, the National Education Association announced its support for Johnson, which was their first Minnesota recommendation of the 2026 cycle.
