Jake Johnson Criticizes New Tariffs
Johnson slams Finstad vote as new tariffs threaten families, farmers, and small businesses in southern Minnesota
Jake Johnson, candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, criticized Representative Brad Finstad following this morning’s announcement that President Donald Trump is imposing new tariffs on Europe tied to an escalating dispute over Greenland.
“Brad Finstad voted to surrender tariff powers to the President, even though the Constitution specifically gives that power to Congress,” said Jake Johnson. “This latest round of tariffs means that our consumers, farmers, and small businesses will foot the bill for a deeply unpopular and illegal campaign to take over Greenland.”
Johnson, whose campaign is focused on making life more affordable, has repeatedly called out the harm that reckless tariffs are causing in southern Minnesota. If elected, Johnson would vote to reassert Congress’ constitutional duties in setting tariff policy for the United States.
