PRESS RELEASE
Jake Johnson to Debate Congressman Brad Finstad Live on KAAL ABC 6 News
ROCHESTER, MN — Jake Johnson has accepted a debate invitation from KAAL with Congressman Brad Finstad on Tuesday, October 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Jake looks forward to making his case directly to voters across southern Minnesota.
The debate will take place at the ABC 6 News studios in Rochester and will air live on KAAL, with streaming available across ABC 6 digital platforms, including the station's website, mobile app, and social media channels. ABC 6 News anchors Robin Wolfram and Axel Gumbel will moderate.
"Thank you to KAAL for hosting this debate and giving folks across southern Minnesota the chance to hear from both candidates side by side," said Jake Johnson. "I've spent this campaign showing up, listening, and answering unscreened questions in every corner of our district, and I'm glad to keep that going on the debate stage. I look forward to making my case for bringing down costs, taking on corruption, and investing in our small towns."
For many southern Minnesotans, the debate will be a rare chance to hear directly from their congressman. Finstad has not held a single in-person town hall since his election in 2022, opting instead for "tele town halls,” which are unannounced phone calls that only go to a set of preselected individuals chosen by his office. Jake, meanwhile, will have held 21 town hall meetings before the debate, one in every county of the district, each publicly advertised in advance and open to all members of the public with no pre-screening of questions and no pre-registration required to attend.
